Menu Commands

The PACKMAN work area has the following menus:

  • File
  • Edit
  • Modules
  • Selections
  • Options
  • Reports
  • Window
  • Help

This section provides a summary of the commands in these menus. PACKMAN also has keyboard shortcuts and toolbar buttons for many menu commands.
To use a keyboard shortcut, hold down the Ctrl key and type the character.
For example :

Press Ctrl+C to copy a selection.

To use the toolbar buttons point to it with the mouse cursor and click.
For example :

There are no keyboard methods for using toolbars.

The File Menu #

The File menu contains the following commands:

Patient Opens a blank Patient Details screen.
Doctor Opens a blank Doctor Details screen.
MedicalInstitution Opens a blank Medical Institution Details screen.

Pharmacist/ Technician Opens a blank Pharmacist Details screen.
OrganisersImage 164 Displays a submenu for opening the organisers.
Patients Opens the Patient Organiser.
Doctors Opens the Doctor Organiser.
Medical Institutions Opens the Medical Institution Organiser.
Drugs Opens the Drug Organiser.
Pharmacists Opens the Pharmacist Organiser.
Print Log Opens a log of printing tasks completed.
Patient Profiles Opens the Patient Profile Organiser.
Command Shortcut Toolbar Description
Logout Ends the session without exiting the module.
Login Starts a new session.
Printer Setup Sets up a default printer and paper size.
Print Prints the current transaction.
Exit Exits the open Amfac module.
The Edit Menu #

The Edit menu contains the following commands:

Undo Ctrl+Z Image 340 Undoes the last action.
Cut Ctrl+X or Shift+Del Image 342 Moves the selected item onto the clipboard.
Copy Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Ins Image 349 Copies the selected item onto the clipboard.
Paste Ctrl+V or Shift+Ins Image 351 Pastes the contents of the clipboard at the cursor position.
The Clipboard #

When you cut or copy information from Amfac modules, it is stored temporarily on the clipboard. You can then paste this information into other areas of the Amfac module, or into a different program. The clipboard can store only one piece of information at a time. Information cut or copied into the clipboard is kept until another piece of information is cut or copied over it, or until you shut down the computer.

Modules #

This menu displays all of the Amfac modules. It will vary depending upon the modules you are using.
The following table summarises the command available in the Modules menu.

The Selections Menu #

This menu only appears when you are in an organiser. See page 160 for details on working with selections.

Command Shortcut Toolbar Description
Select All Ctrl + A Selects all records displayed in the organiser.
Select None Ctrl + D Clears the current selection.
Invert Inverts the current selection, so that unselected items are selected and selected items are cleared.
Show Members Only Shows only records that match the criteria on the search row and that are members of the current selection.
Show All Shows all records in the organiser that match the criteria on the search row.
Save Ctrl + S Saves the current selection under its existing name. If the selection has not been saved before, you are asked to give it a name.
Save As Saves the current selection under the name you specify.
Command Shortcut Toolbar Description
Load Ctrl + O Loads a saved selection, ignoring any selection present before the command is used.
Merge Merges a saved selection with the current selection, adding items from the saved selection to the current selection.
Split Splits members out from the current selection, saving them as a new selection with a name you specify.
Delete Deletes the specified saved selection.
Clear Clears the current selection.
The Options Menu #
Command Shortcut Toolbar Description
ToolbarsImage 164 Displays a submenu for controlling the toolbar display.
Flat Displays flat toolbar buttons, as used in Windows 98.
Raised Displays raised toolbar buttons, as used in Windows 95.
Status bar Turns the status bar on and off.
Sort This command only appears in the Options menu when you are in an organiser. It determines the order in which the records are displayed.
Workstation Setup Opens the PACKMAN Setup screen where you can set printers for foils, labels and signing sheets.
Module Setup Opens the PACKMAN Setup screen where you can set defaults and options.
System Setup Opens the PACKMAN System Setup screen where you can set navigation and text formatting options.
The Reports Menu #

All reports for Amfac modules are listed under the Reports menu on the work areas. When you choose a report, the Report Criteria screen is displayed.
From this screen you can:

  • Preview the report on the screen
  • Print the report
  • Save the report to a text file
  • Choose a new printer and optionally set it up.

The Report Criteria screen changes according to the type of report you select. See Using the Reports Feature on page 204 for more information.

Command Shortcut Toolbar Description
Patient List Creates a list of patients from a medical institution.
Medical Institution List Creates a list of all medical institutions.
Current Patient Profile Listing Creates a report of a current medical institution profile.
Historical Patient Profile Listing Creates a historical report of a medical institution profile.
Batch Print Prints profile foils, labels, signing sheets, etc. for batches of patients.
The Window Menu #

The following useful features can be accessed from the Window menu:

The following table describes the non-menu shortcuts that are available in PACKMAN.

Shortcut Description
Alt+Down Arrow Displays the contents of a drop-down list in which the cursor is currently active.
Ctrl+A or Ins Adds a new record to the table your cursor is in.
Ctrl+E Edits the record you have selected on a table..
Ctrl+D or Del Deletes the record you have selected on a table.
