A zero-day vulnerability  is a software vulnerability discovered by attackers before the vendor has become aware of it. Because the vendors are unaware, no patch exists for zero-day vulnerabilities, making attacks likely to succeed.

The best way to protect your pharmacy from zero-day vulnerabilities is to have good cyber hygiene. A few tips to achieve good cyber hygiene include:

  • Enabling the Windows firewall on all computers
  • Installing a next-get AI-based antivirus software
  • Blocking potentially harmful file attachments
  • Patching operating systems monthly, applications weekly
  • Limiting the use of pharmacy computers to business use only
