Many areas in the Dispense screen give you the ability to look for information using the search text box. The magnifying lens icon can be used to identify which areas have an active search.
The search control consists of a text box with a drop down results menu. Results are filtered automatically as you enter information into the search text box. The results list may display multiple items that match your search, with the most relevant one displayed at the top.
The first entry is preselected, pressing Enter will populate details relevant to your selection. You can use the Up and Down arrow keys if you would like to go through the entire list of results.
TIP
To limit your search results to a specific entry, refer to Using Unique Keywords.
Entering Search Terms
The search control gives you the ability to add more information to improve your search results. These include,
- Entering multiple search items in any order, separated using spaces or commas or both (including multiples of each e.g. 2 spaces in a row).
- Using special characters, apostrophes, dashes, numeric and alphanumeric characters, in places where relevant.
- Accepting both upper and lower case characters.
There is no specific order in which to enter your search terms.
When searching for a patient, you can enter the patient’s name (first or last), a part of the address or the Medicare number. The search control will look for all items that match the search entry and display results with the most probable item listed at the top as the initial entry, followed by all others.
For Example,
If you are looking for a prescriber and enter David 202, the search results will display for David with the street address 202 Clement St.
However, if you enter David 8012306, the search results will display for David with the prescriber number listed as 8012306.
You can similarly search for a person by last name, phone number and so on; or look up a drug by entering either the whole or part of the name, followed by part of its strength.
Patient Specific Search Terms
In Corum Clear Dispense these search options are used to make patient searching convenient:
- Patients can be searched using a combination of their surname and street name. All partial matches for the search criteria that you typed in are displayed.
- Search and display family members by typing the letters a or f in the Patient field. The letters are not case sensitive.
A patient must be selected to use this option.
Once a patient is loaded if you press a and enter the surname all members of the family are displayed according to the PRF details saved in the system.
If you press f all members of the family that have the same address are displayed.
- Search for a patient using their phone number by typing + followed by the starting digits of the patient’s phone number, or by entering 8 or more digits of the phone number.
Phone number searching is carried out for all the phone numbers saved for a patient.
NOTE
Corum Clear Dispense previously supported patient searching using a combination of the patient surname and street number.
Script Search
You can search for scripts using a script number, serial number or claim number. To search for a script:
1. From the main menu, choose Script → Find.
The Find Script pop-up is displayed.
2. Enter the script number, serial number or claim number related to the script that you are searching for.
3. Choose OK to search for the script.
If you entered a valid number, you will be redirected to the Dispense Pane . The patient details will be automatically filled in, corresponding to the patient’s name of the script that you searched for.
The script that you searched for will also be highlighted in the Patient History section.
If you have entered an invalid number, the following error message will be displayed.
Viewing Results
Search results are displayed immediately below the text box where you add the search input. They are updated dynamically at the point when you are typing in or modifying the search terms.
You can view up to 10 result rows at a time. if the search returns more than 10 results, a vertical scroll bar is available to scroll through the list. If a search doesn’t return any results, a message is displayed on the screen to let you know that there are no active records matching your search.
Sorting Results
Search results are displayed in a default order. You can change the order by selecting the heading of the primary sort column to re-order the items displayed. The mouse pointer will indicate when you can sort a particular column’s heading. If a column can be sorted the mouse pointer changes to a hand .
Selecting the same column heading repeatedly will toggle the list between ascending and descending order.
Using Unique Keywords (Identifiers)
All primary search items have a unique identifier. To select one of these directly, type a full stop (“.”) followed immediately by the unique identifier and press Enter. This results in an exact match for the letters or numbers entered in your keyword search.
In the case when the search control does not find an exact match, no results will be displayed. Hence, the results will be unique to the item listed in the search.
Searching Using Wildcards
Wildcards are special characters that match any characters in text comparisons.
- An asterisk (*) matches any number of characters.
m*n matches (among other things) man, men, moon, motion, mountain, etc.
- A question mark (?) matches any single character.
m?n matches man and men, but none of the other words in the previous example.
