If both the number of repeats prescribed and the number of times previously dispensed are specified, they are separated by a forward slash (“/”).
If only a single number is entered, treat it as the number of repeats prescribed; as the number of times the item was previously dispensed is implied to be zero. If a different number of repeats is prescribed, type that number into the Repeats box.
The recommended maximum number of repeats for PBS/RPBS drugs is visible below the Repeats field. The number of repeats defaults to the PBS maximum for PBS items, or zero for private items.
The script is priced privately if there is no authority number and the number of repeats authorised is more than the PBS maximum.
NOTE
Owing scripts for PBS/RPBS items cannot have repeats. This is a Medicare Australia requirement.
In addition to numbers and the forward slash character, you can also include the following characters to represent the category of script:
- U (Unoriginal).
- R (Reg24): If present, the script’s Reg24 status is set to True, which indicates that the original and all repeats are being supplied in one go; if absent, the script’s Reg24 status is False.
- D (Defer): If present, the default status changes from Dispense to Defer.
- O (Owing): If present, sets the script’s owing status to True and clears the date of prescribing value. This can also be entered in Script Date.
For Example,
If you enter 3U/1 or 3/1U, it implies that 3 is the number of repeats prescribed for the unoriginal (U) script and 1 is the number of times the script has been dispensed. You can enter up to three digits in this field.
