For maximum workflow flexibility you can dispense from the queue directly by selecting what to dispense from the virtual baskets listed, or indirectly by dispensing queued scripts in the normal manner. When dispensing at a queue level, Corum Clear Dispense begins dispensing from the first queue item automatically.
Direct Dispensing
To dispense from the queue directly, do one of the following:
- Scan the barcode on the script queue docket of the virtual basket you want to dispense.
- Using the mouse, either double‑click on a virtual basket in the Script Queue panel, or right‑click on the virtual basket then choose Dispense from the context menu displayed. You can also double‑click or right‑click on an item listed within a virtual basket if you want to start with a particular script.
- Using the keyboard, press the Script Queue keyboard shortcut, then use Up and Down to select the virtual basket; press Enter to start dispensing it. The Script Queue keyboard shortcut varies depending on the keyboard shortcut set you have selected. It is:
- Ctrl+Q in AWD and Z modes
- F11 in multi‑system composite mode
- Shift+F12 in LOTS mode
- F6 in Fred mode.
When dispensing a queued script, its virtual basket is expanded with the queued script highlighted.
- If the queued script is an ePrescription, an older‑style eScript, or an own repeat, its details are automatically retrieved and displayed.
- If the queued script is a manual script, the item name shown in the virtual basket, plus any comments entered, will identify the item to be dispensed from the paper prescription.
The queued script shows … (an ellipsis) as its status while it is being dispensed.
Complete the script in the normal manner.
If there are other scripts in the virtual basket that are still to be dispensed, the Dispensed screen shows a Start Next button where you would normally see Same Patient.
To dispense the next script in the virtual basket,
- Choose Start Next.
- To work with a different script, for instance to dispense a script urgently, choose New Patient then proceed with that script as normal.
When you are ready to resume dispensing from the Script Queue, use whichever of the direct or indirect methods listed earlier in this section.
When all the scripts in a virtual basket have been dispensed, its status is changed to Dispensed and it moves from Scripts In to Scripts Out.
Indirect Dispensing
To dispense from the queue indirectly, do one of the following. Corum Clear Dispense recognises scripts that are already queued and updates the relevant virtual basket accordingly.
- Scan the barcode for an ePrescription token, older‑style eScript barcode, or repeat form which is already queued.
- Type a script number or repeat number, or the ePrescription token or older‑style eScript barcode value into the Patient lookup.
- In Patient History or the Script Organiser, select a script then choose Repeat from the context menu.
