Price Overrides
You can override the default price directly, or by changing the parameters used to calculate it. If the script has repeats they default to the overridden price when dispensed.
NOTE
If you override the price of a PBS or RPBS item it becomes private.
You can set special base prices, markups and dispensing fees for individual drugs. These are automatically applied when the drug is dispensed as a private item. For details, see the Drug Details Screen.
To set the price of the script directly to a specific value, type the value into the Price box.
To calculate a custom price for a script, set one or more of the pricing parameters, as follows and then choose OK to return to the Dispensing screen.
- To apply a special markup, select the Percentage or Value button, then type the markup into the adjacent box.
- To apply a special dispensing fee, type the amount into the Dispensing Fee box.
- To apply a special discount, select either Percentage or Value, then type the discount into the adjacent box.
- To override the default GST behaviour, tick or untick the GST check box.
- To apply a particular price and have the system work back to get the other values, type the price into the Total box.
NOTE
If GST applies to a script and you set the price to a specific value by typing it into the Price box or the Total box, that value is assumed to include GST (i.e. it is the retail price including
To return to PBS or RPBS pricing, select the relevant PBS or RPBS category in the Item Type drop-down list.
To return to the default private price, in the Item Type drop-down list select a PBS or RPBS category, then select Private.
Recovery Price for Extemporaneous Preparations
If the item prescribed is a PBS extemporaneous preparation, the Recovery Price box is displayed after the Price box.
NOTE
The Price box is labelled Patient Price when dispensing these items, to make it clearer which is which.
For selectively priced items, type the recovery price into the Recovery Price box. The Patient Price is updated accordingly.
The Recovery Price box is grey when the recovery price is less than the applicable PBS patient contribution. It is displayed normally (in black writing) when the item is claimable.
