Script Queuing is used to manage the scripts that your pharmacy receives. It is an optional function that pharmacies can choose to use. If your pharmacy can manage dispensing using a manual physical basket system, using the Scrip Queue function of CCD is not required. It is generally most useful to be used concurrently with paperless ePrescriptions and front counter programs. The Script Queue screen shows a prioritised list of queued scripts that are either waiting or being dispensed. It is updated when scripts are added, edited or deleted, and it is also updated periodically (every 60 seconds by default, although this is configurable).
The Script Queue panel shows the number of scripts waiting in the queue. If any scripts are urgent, due immediately or overdue, this information is shown in white text on a red background. When a queued script is being dispensed, its queue number gives an indication if the queued script is being dispensed to a new patient.
The Script Queue toolbar is updated automatically as you work with the script queue, and also at regular timed intervals (by default 60 seconds).
You can use the Script Queue with all scripts including paper scripts. It is accessible on all your Dispensing and Front Counter computers, and is automatically prioritised based on when customers are expecting their scripts.
With script queuing, patient details can be checked and added at the front counter, and then conveniently dispensed by scanning a queue docket or by selecting from a prioritised list of waiting scripts.
Script queuing and forward patient entry functions are available in:
- The Script Queue program, which is designed for front counter use. See Optional Front Counter Program for more information.
- Dispensing, for use in the dispensary.
Script Queuing in Dispense
In Dispense, the Script Queue is shown in the left panel, with separate tabs for Scripts In, Scripts Out, and the Local Queue. Scripts in the queue are also referred to as virtual baskets. A script or virtual basket in the queue can be edited if it has only been partially dispensed. For more information about editing queue entries see Editing Queue Entries.
You can dispense from the queue, add to the queue, and record queued scripts as collected.
