The interactive Medication Summary screen lets you view and manage patient history in a collated, summarised form. This lets you verify the patient’s medication compliance and engage in patient management. The historical view of the patient’s medication summary will also enable you to effectively advice the patient on their medication requirements.
Use the Medication Summary screen to:
- Browse patient history grouped by medication type, generic drug and dosage form.
- Change how medications are categorised, at script, patient or pharmacy level.
- Obtain an overall perspective on the patients medication history.
You can also perform the normal script actions, such as editing, repeating, reprinting, etc.
To view a patient’s medication summary, from the main menu, choose Patient → Medication Summary.
If a patient was selected on the main Dispensing screen, that same patient is initially selected on the Medication Chart screen. You can also use the Patient drop‑down list to select patients directly at the Medication Chart screen.
The Medication Summary Screen
The Medication Summary screen consists of a filter bar and two tables.
- Use the filter bar at the top of the screen to change the patient or the amount of history shown.
- The top table groups medications by type (e.g. long term, short term, etc.) and then by generic drug and form. The most recent dispensing and repeats remaining for each are also shown for quick reference.
- The information shown in this table corresponds to the Medication Summary Report.
- When you select a medication in the top table, the bottom table shows details of all its individual dispensings. This helps you see changes in brand, strength and dosage over time.
- Use the From and To boxes to change the amount of history shown.
